10 Ways That You Are Overcomplicating Your Own Life

Written by Azeemen

You automatically assume that people are bad.

Take the following scenarios, for instance. Your friend doesn’t reply to your text message early enough. Your wife forgot to make dinner for you one night. Some other driver cut you off when you were driving. These are all negative things that happen to you, yes. But that doesn’t mean these things were done with bad intent. Sometimes, people can do bad things without them intending to. And that doesn’t make them bad people.

You think that the world revolves around you.

The world doesn’t revolve around you – and the sooner you get that through your head, the easier your life becomes. Sometimes, you get so caught up in thinking that you are the star of your own life; and that everything in life has to adjust to you. But that’s not how it works. You aren’t the center of the universe and you aren’t entitled to everything that you want. You’re going to have to work hard for the things that you want in this life; and sometimes, you’re not going to succeed. And that’s okay. You aren’t entitled to a happy ending. You need to go out and get it.

You think of the worst possible outcomes all of the time.

Yes, it’s always nice to prepare for the worst; but never forget to hope for the best. You bring a lot of unnecessary negativity into your life by always assuming the worst. You don’t want to think that your life is going to be filled with perpetual doom and failure. That’s no way to live life. That’s no way to look at the beautiful world around you. You are only perpetuating your own sadness by living life in this manner.

You have very unrealistic communications (which you might not even communicate).

You can’t expect the people around you to be able to read your mind. So, if you have a certain set of expectations, then you need to be able to communicate them to those who impact your life. And on top of that, make sure that your expectations are reasonable and realistic. Otherwise, you are only going to be setting yourself up for severe disappointment.

You keep waiting for signs before you make a move.

If you keep on waiting for the universe to give you a sign before you act on something, then you’re practically going to be waiting your whole life. Your destiny isn’t going to wait for you if you refuse to act. You need to be able to take matters into your own hands. Stop waiting for signs. Instead, start thinking about what you need to do and muster the courage that you need to do it. Waiting around is going to get you nowhere.

You let fear keep you from taking risks in life.

A bulk of life is about taking risks. In life, you are never really going to be sure about a lot of things. And that’s why risk is always going to be involved especially when it comes to growth. Sometimes, you’re going to fail. And that can hurt. But you shouldn’t let the fear of failure deprive you of the opportunity to pursue growth, development, and success. At the end of the day, your experience can be your best teacher.

You are always comparing yourself to other people.

Live life by your own standards. We are all going at our own pace. And just because you are going at a pace that’s slower than others doesn’t mean that you aren’t finding success in your own life.

You allow other people to walk all over you.

Yes, it’s always good to be a nice person. But being a nice person doesn’t automatically mean letting other people walk all over you. You don’t have to be a pushover to be a nice human being. When you feel like you are being used, abused, or manipulated by the people around you. Do something about it. Don’t be a doormat. Don’t let other people walk all over you whenever they please. Take a stand.

You hold on to grudges.

Holding on to a grudge doesn’t really hurt anyone other than yourself. So, you might as well just learn to let go. There is beauty in the art of detachment. You have to be able to detach yourself from people and from situations. When you are living a detached life, you don’t have to be carrying so much emotional weight around. Your shoulders will be free from any emotional burdens.

You don’t give back to the universe.

At the end of the day, you’re never going to be able to make it on your own. And that’s why it’s important for you to realize the importance of giving back to the world around you. You are never going to get to where you need to be without the help of others. And so, if you have an opportunity to help the people around you, you should never let these opportunities go to waste.
