6 Natural ways to improve your Eyesight

Eyesight can deteriorate as people get older or due to certain health conditions. However, there are a number of natural ways a person can protect and improve their vision without the need for corrective glasses.

1. Get enough sleep

Resting your eyes for a couple of minutes isn’t enough. Your body requires regular, restful sleep. We know the importance of sleep for your health and well being. When your body gets enough rest, your eyes become renewed. If you engage in intense visual activity such as working on a computer or reading a book, short breaks go a long way in helping your eyesight, as it gives them a chance to rest.

2. Avoid smoking

Apart from being unhealthy for many reasons, smoking can contribute to blindness. Smoking can increase your chances of developing cataracts and can cause age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Additionally, smoking can reduce the number of antioxidants that are beneficial to your eyesight.

3. Get enough vital vitamins and minerals

Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as the mineral zinc, contain antioxidants that can help prevent macular degeneration. It’s a condition in which the macula — the part of the eye that controls central vision — deteriorates.

Food sources for these essential nutrients include a variety of colorful vegetables and fruits, such as carrots, red peppers, broccoli, spinach, strawberries, sweet potato, citrus can protect your eyesight view.

4. Eat Well

Good eye health starts with the food on your plate. Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems like macular degeneration and cataracts. To get them, fill your plate with:

  • Green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, and collards
  • Salmon, tuna, and other oily fish

  • Oysters and pork

5. Avoid Excess light from phone or computer 

Staring at a computer or phone screen for too long can cause:

To protect your eyes make sure you turn on Eye care mode on your phone or on your computer to avoid eyesight problem 

6. Use Safety Eye wear

If you use hazardous or airborne materials on the job or at home, wear safety glasses or protective goggles.

Sports like ice hockey, racquetball, and lacrosse can also lead to eye injury. Wear eye protection. Helmets with protective face masks or sports goggles with polycarbonate lenses will shield your eyes.
